190 – Skilled Nominated

The 190 visa is one of the fastest routes to PR for eligible applicants. As a State sponsored skilled visa, the visa requires that an applicant have support from an Australian State or Territory in a listed occupation. Each State and Territory has a different list of occupations on their 190 lists and as such it is important to confirm eligibility in your preferred jurisdiction before attempting an application.

In addition to meeting the State and Territory criteria, an applicant must have a skills assessment for their occupation and a minimum qualifying English language test score of competent.

The difficulty with this visa pathway often comes down to attracting the support of the State or Territory. Many jurisdictions require an applicant to show some level of connection, such as an offer of employment with a business operating in the State or Territory, or having resided (or a relative that lives within) the region.

After receiving support from a State or Territory, you will be invited to apply for a visa with the Department of Home Affairs through Skill Select, providing you a have minimum qualifying mark of 60 points.

To confirm whether your occupation is on a list currently supported by a State or Territory, and for a full assessment of your eligibility for the 190 visa pathway, please call 1300 899 734 to arrange a consultation with a MAPS registered migration agent today.
